(get it?! “catch up”…”ketchup”…haha, at least Alicia Wengert would appreciate it :) It could be worse, though. I could be making French puns. I’ll refrain. On a sidenote though, French ketchup isn’t quite the same as American ketchup…even the Heinz isn’t the same.)
So once again, my room has become a disaster zone. To be honest, I don’t know how it happens, and I wish it wouldn’t. I’m one of those people who really loves and appreciates cleanliness but isn’t so great at creating or maintaining it. For example, I have been known to make my roommate/s sit on my bed and talk to me while reading a Cosmo to keep me company while I take hours to fix my mess. No lie.
Anyway, when I returned to Rennes after I said bon voyage to my family after xmas break, the light above my sink went out. It stayed that way until yesterday (despite the daily angst I had without a light) because I wanted my room to be clean when the repair man came to fix it. Unfortunately, my room was clean the day I made the request, a Saturday I think, and two days later it became somehow worse than before, just in time for the repairman’s visit.
Somehow he changed that lightbulb in like 15 seconds though because he was in and out within 20 seconds flat. I was impressed.
I’m thinking I’ll take a photo- or better yet, maybe even a video- of the horrendous mess I have created for myself. Check back soon lol in the meantime, bisous!
Whoever said that they love Paris in the Winter was lying.
To be honest, it’s sort of a miserable place to be in the winter (…although on second thought it would still be better than Iowa or Minnesota if only the French knew how to heat places properly- but thats another story). Anyway that’s where I’m heading off to in an hour or so (depends on how quickly I pack!) to visit my friend Emily, even if it is shitty weather :D She just arrived a few days ago and is living in temporary housing until she finds an apartment. I can’t wait to see her- we have so so so much to catch up on with each other. She studied abroad in Jordan last semester and we had bad internet connections for Skype so there is lots to talk about. Anyway, I should get off here so that I don’t miss my train!
Hope everyone had a good weekend
Ok, well not really lol. I haven’t been completely brainwashed by the English & Irish, yet. I still prefer coffee over tea ;) Anyway I went to Barbara’s room today for a good dose of coffee and gossip & in the process had my first cup of instant coffee.
Verdict = Pleasantly Surprised
So much so, that I went out to my neighborhood Carrefour and bought my very own electric kettle! It has already proved its usefulness, as my kitchen’s two hotplates were being monopolized when my stomach decided it was time for dinner. Thus I made soup! How exciting, lol. The soup itself isn’t that great (its a vegetable powder-based soup) but making it was exhilarating.
That alone proves how exhausting this first week of class has been lol. It doesn’t help that we seem to go out every night. It appears that even though I don’t have class until 19:00 (7pm) tomorrow, we are staying in tonight. Which is actually kind of nice. It will give me a chance to catch up on some things.
