Happy MLK Jr. day! It is one of the few holidays that DU recognizes and so I was lucky enough to get a long weekend- no classes today, woo! This weekend was pretty low-key, but pleasant and even a little productive. Ally had some friends visiting which was fun, and other than that I just tried to get ahead with classes, papers and midterms (I’m worrying about midterms already and it’s only January 17th hahaha. wow).
So today ended up being more of a workday than a holiday, but oh welllll :) Em and I went to St. Mark’s cafe off of Colfax (Race & 17th) and worked on our respective essays. There is always enough time for a couple photos, though ;)
ALSO, i don’t think anyone (except maybe Ally) has any idea how much i’m in love with Rihanna’s song “Cheers (Drink to That)”. I seriously dig it. If you haven’t heard it yet, you must check it out. There isn’t a video for it yet, so here’s the best I could find on youtube:
Here is just a quick update, loves. Sorry I’ve been M.I.A. the past few days. I’ve been hella busy!
Today is the last day of my internship at the DAM & I’ll truly be sad to go. I’ve enjoyed it so much! And when I get home from work, my mom, my sister and I will get to work on finishing packing up all my shiz. Yikes. That is a scary thought. My Uncle Jon lives in Wyoming & he was really nice and agreed to store some stuff for me but other than that, everything must go!
I finished my paper last night while my mom and sister were visiting my Aunt and Uncle and since I finished, I then had the lovely opportunity to see some friends from high school who are visiting Denver (woot Lauren & Melissa!). I took GiGi with and met them at Stella’s and it was really fun- it’s seriously been so long since we’ve gotten together that I have no idea when the last time was that I saw them!
This morning we woke up bright and early at the hotel my mom & sister are staying at. I drove to campus, printed and turned in my papers (relief) and then went to work.
Calla, Victoria and I went out for a “Last Day of Work” lunch at Maggianos and now I’m just finishing up some work before I leave for the day!
It is very likely that I wont post for the next several days since road trips and blogging don’t really go together ;)
Have a great weekend (I know I will)!
Yay! My mom and sister arrived in Denver around 7 p.m. this evening and it was so nice to see them! They brought our precious poodle with too which was so nice because I’ve missed her so much. The purpose of them driving out is to help me pack up and move back home before I leave for France in a few weeks. There is so much to do it is scary!
For dinner, I took them to a little restaurant in the South Pearl St area (it is way past most of the cute shops & restaurants and is located closer to Evans) called Park Burger. I’ve noticed it before and thought it looked really cute but this is the first time I’ve ever been, and let me tell you, it was delish! Everything comes out of the kitchen in these functional wire baskets and there is a nice patio area too.
Also, HUGE PLUS, they are very dog friendly. There were three or four dogs sitting on the other side of the fence of their owners tables. I had the Park Burger Royal (carmelized onions, blue cheese, and bacon) on a wheat bun and I would highly recommend it if you like blue cheese. They also have fun specialty burgers like the “Croque Burger” which is kind of like the lovechild between a Croque Madame and a Hamburger:
Big M & little m just dropped me off at my apartment and I’m now getting ready to write/finish my last paper for the summer class I’m taking. My professor is accepting papers until Friday at 5pm but I just want to get it over with so I can start packing already because we are leaving Saturday morning. Yikes!
sidenote: I NEED TO GET RID OF MY BED. IF YOU CAN MOVE IT, YOU CAN HAVE IT!!!! ITS ONLY A YEAR OLD & STILL HAS ITS WARRANTY TOO! please let me know if you are interested. It must go.
Happy Wednesday! Friday will be here soonnnnn!
